Frank and I first inspected the roof and found it clear of ice and snow, except for some ice on the rail the shutter rides on. We knocked this off. The sky was clear but the wind was easterly, and the seeing was poor. Tom Williams was onsite to observe with GrIm2 for NM09. *The grim control application that runs on the grim mac died three times, with error of type 1. We were able to restart without too much loss of time. 2nd half observing specialist: McMillan Second half remained clear, but the wind picked up. The telescope was closed from 01:25 to 01:55 due to wind, re-opened briefly, then closed again at 02:15 for the rest of the night. Both GRIM and the telescope behaved well while in use, although the effects of windshake were clearly visible in the images. During the enforced closure, we took test images with the echelle, which also worked well (both the shutter and the readout).
