We acquired a star and obtained focus data for the guider and SPIcam, in order to determine if the secondary mirror cage needed to be moved. The telescope was closed at 19:15 MST, due to clouds. Jon Davis came in and retensioned the vanes for the secondary mirror, to move it farther away from the primary by about 3/16 inch. The telescope remained closed, due to smoke from nearby controlled burns being conducted by the forest service. The telescope was reopened at 00:25. The new focus position (for the guider and SPIcam) was found to be near the center of travel of the secondary mirror. 2nd half observing specialist: McMillan, Deglman Once the new focus was established, we were able to find the secondary collimation, which turned out to be at X and Y tilt values of -100, +100. After the secondary had been adjusted, it was necessary to include some calibration offsets (0.02,-0.015) in order to re-center the star. We went on to do a successful instrument block for the guider, preparatory to doing a pointing model. Unfortunately, clouds started to move in again around 02:30. While they weren't thick enough to prevent our measurements for the instrument block, they did make the pointing model difficult enough that we decided to close again at 04:00.
