Opening was delayed by clouds. Gordon Richards observed (from the AAS meeting) for UC01, which was a time swap from February to obtain some setting objects. After UC01, we switched over to the Echelle, and Shu-i Wang and Chris Mallouris continued Echelle tests from onsite. No problems to report from the instruments or the telescope. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Camron Hastings Nothing to report. All was smooth. Photometric during second half. Focus tests and long throughput test exposures. All worked well. ------- Observer Comments ------- Shu-I Wang: Engineering measurements of the Echelle focus tests confirmed that the telescope-spectrograph focus is confocal with the calibration system-spectrograph focus. All is well. We thank Ed Turner for giving us EN03 time to check this.
