The air was warmer than the telescope at the beginning of the night. I don't know if this was the cause of the large focus change we observed during the first hour of observing, but the focus changed by 300 microns at the secondary, which is a centimeter at the focal plane. So, although the fwhm values in the focus log are sub-arcsec, in reality we were often out of focus, at least at the beginning of the night. The scripts for dithering GrIm2 caused some confusion with the observers, and this is because Remark and the MC have different instrument offset sign conventions (and they are both different from the TCC, in different ways). 2nd half observing specialist: Russet McMillan Second half started out with thin high clouds, which persisted with remarkable consistency through the morning. The scheduled program, NM07, was pre-empted by DD01 for spectra of the optical counterpart of a GRB. Apparently some useful data were obtained despite the clouds. All the instruments behaved well, aside from the cloud camera getting stuck in the north again.
