Only a few steps change were needed from the previous high res zerosteps used. The enclosure was opened at about 18:30 after Charles Hoopes had completed his DIS cals. There was a fair amount of high cloudiness during the first half of the night, but Charles managed to get several good spectra. At around 20:45 the switch was made to SPICAM for Vanessa Galarza's portion of the program. After some dome flats she ran the remainder of the NMSU time up to 00:10. There were a couple small problems to report. The first was that the guider stopped talking properly to the TCC. The response to anything gcam was "too few replies". A host or talk session to tcc_cam would result in the response OK, but nothing else. After rebooting the guider Mac and the controller, things responded normally. The second was that the guider monitor was not displaying current guider info. It was acting as if the guider was not being used. That is the weather portion was working and the last guider image was something from 04:00 yesterday morning and did not change. Getting out and restarting the monitor did not help. 2nd half observing specialist: Russet McMillan Second half started out about half cloudy, then deteriorated to thicker clouds which forced a closure at 04:00. The clouds didn't clear until after the beginning of twilight, when we re-opened for dawn flats. The guider monitor functioned normally once I issued a gdrstart command. Pointing was better than last night, with errors usually less than 10 arcseconds. Ted Wyder reported a problem with SPIcam when he tried to take some biases -- the chip would simply clear repeatedly, rather than reading out. Exiting and re-entering spicam command fixed the problem. OBSERVER COMMENTS T. Wyder (UW05): I was not able to obtain much useful data tonight due to thick clouds present for most of the time. There were no problems otherwise. The pointing was somewhat better, being only about 10 arcseconds or so off after long slews.
