Scott Anderson was observing for Eric Deutsch. COMMENTS:We were open throughout our time slot, with another night of sometimes excellent 0.6-0.7 arcsec seeing in the IR, fine transparency, etc. GRIM performed well, but with occasional brief hangs for "no flush, check electronics" error messages. We lost the net connection once briefly early on. Tia thoughtfully took some darks for us before we logged on (Thanks!). Another good night. Neil Miller and Kurt Anderson were on sight to observe for the NM09 program. COMMENTS:Though short, the run went quite smoothly. I took 15-minute long spectra of 5 target galaxies, plus a standard star and two sets of arc lamp spectra. The telescope pointing was within 10", and the tracking was fine over the duration of the exposures. I'd like to thank Tia for her part in making this a successful first run on the instrument. Neal Jon Holtzman was on sight for the NM02 run. COMMENTS: At the beginning of the night, Spicam driftscanning revealed that maybe the pointing and/or tracking was off. Stare mode observations confirmed bad centering of objects. After running the coordinate error program things seemed only partially corrected. So we centered object and reset coordinates manually. Problem seemed corrected afterwards. However, focus kept giving around 0.9 arcsec seeing and observations showed ~1.1 - 1.3 ... maybe due to still uncorrected tracking problems? Spicam was again behaving sporadically...at times not reading the full number of pixels requested by our script. No pattern in the problem was evident.
