The weather was better than expected for the first run of the night. Patchy, murky clouds interfered with Xiaohui's observations, which were all of very faint targets. There were no problems with the telescope hardware or software. Obs Specialist second half: Camron Hastings I took over at 23:30 with hazy skies. They eventually improved and Gordon Richards started his run at 01:10 with decent skies. At times the sky grew hazy enough to stop observing, but cleared up again. I did notice a problem with the images dragging in Y. The guider tried to correct, but was not enough. The corrections necessary in Y usually were running between 0.6 and 1.0 arcsecs every 10 secs. Eventually the guide star would drift off the guider field. I assume this drift is due to the rotator, as the star being observed was put on the boresite and remained there during this drift. I checked the rotator during this activity to determine that the cabling was OK, which it was. Near the end of the night, the network froze for about 60 seconds or more, but without any "Net Down" indicator. It eventually let everything in the cache through. This was also apparent in the lamp control web page. Gordon issued a command and it took over 5 mins for it to be executed, then all was fine... Observer Comments (UC02) Gordon Richards We were able to squeeze in 3 targets between the clouds. A few strange network problems at the end of the night. We lost the network, but without the usual "Net is down" indicator.
