The seeing was poor at the very beginning of the night, but quickly improved. Xiaohui observed several suspected quasars. Everything went smoothly. - Karen Gloria I took over at 23:30 with clear skies, though rising humidity and clouds moving in from the north-west. I tried to imaged lens object 2237 with not too spectacular results, clouds moved in. Nicole King's project got off the ground, but the clouds moved in again by 03:30 and obscured her objects for the remainder of the night. We did spend some time reducing some of the bias frames and such, and Nicole again found that the histogram of the overscan on the red chip is still double peaked. - Camron Hastings FOCUS LOG September 16th 1998 Best Telescope Temp Wind Seeing Time Instrmt Focus Az El Air/Truss Dir MPH filter FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:00 slitcam -200(6503) 94 41 10.8/12.1 25 5 none 1.7" 20:05 guider 52675(6483) 95 43 11.5/11.9 48 9 R 1.4" 21:50 guider 54000(6508) 128 44 11.2/11.5 100 5 R 1.1" 00:40 DIS +020(6587) 199 59 11.7/11.0 076 1.5 r 1.1" WEATHER LOG September 16th 1998 Wind Time Temp-F Dewp-F MPH Direction Dust Sky Precip ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 49 47 17 65 (ENE) 186 Cloudy Rain 17:01 49 46 15 79 (ENE) 213 Ptly Cldy None 18:01 53 46 9 75 (ENE) 125 Ptly Cldy None 19:01 52 44 9 79 (ENE) 122 Ptly Cldy None 20:01 52 40 4 33 (NNE) 190 Ptly Cldy None 21:01 53 41 6 98 (E) 213 Clear None 22:01 53 42 5 92 (E) 291 Clear None 23:01 53 42 6 85 (E) 345 Clear None 00:01 52 44 4 85 (E) 526 Ptly Cldy None 01:01 52 43 1 98 (E) 437 Ptly Cldy None 02:01 52 43 3 264 (W) 356 Clear None 03:01 52 43 4 276 (W) 397 Ptly Cldy None 04:01 51 107 1 270 (W) 360 Cloudy None note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
