The sky cleared for a bit, but then the dew point diff suddenly dropped, so we closed again at 21:30. One funny occurrence during the focus and standard star integrations. At ~21:05, the telescope jumped 37" in x only, y was untouched. After this jump, all was well until we closed though, at 21:30. At 01:28 I saw a very large and brilliant meteor. It ran from the south/zenith part of the sky into the northwest. Just thought I would mention it in case someone knows what it was, if it was anything other than a rock... -Camron Hastings FOCUS LOG August 26th 1998 Best Telescope Temp Wind Seeing Time Instrmt Focus Az El Air/Truss Dir MPH filter FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:40 DIS/Slit -200/6847 116 61 14.4/17.9 091 6.3 - ~1.4" WEATHER LOG August 26th 1998 Wind Time Temp-F Dewp-F MPH Direction Dust Sky Precip ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 67 55 4 289 (WNW) 426 Ptly Cldy None 17:01 70 55 3 272 (W) 344 Ptly Cldy None 18:01 67 54 5 268 (W) 404 Ptly Cldy None 19:01 64 50 6 279 (W) 407 Ptly Cldy None 20:01 63 50 4 336 (NNW) 371 Clear None 21:01 59 54 5 83 (E) 568 Clear None 22:01 60 52 2 88 (E) 578 Clear None 23:01 60 51 2 81 (E) 482 Clear None 00:01 61 49 0 254 (WSW) 474 Clear None 01:01 59 51 2 262 (W) 483 Clear None 02:01 59 52 3 229 (SW) 529 Clear None 03:01 59 52 2 252 (WSW) 483 Clear None 04:01 58 52 3 263 (W) 462 Clear None note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
