I reopened at 1:30 with hopes that the dust and humidity had settled, but I had to close again at 3:00 due to high humidity and high dust counts. Gordon Richards was the observer for the evening, as the time was traded with UW05. COMMENTS:Well, things looked pretty good at the beginning of the night, we had calibrations done and the telescope open and cooled down with time to spare before twilight thanks to Tia's efficiency. Then she mentioned that Sunspot decided to start a controlled fire this afternoon and everything went downhill from there. Nevertheless we did manage to get a couple of spectra. I'm not sure how tonight got chosen as the time to start a fire given that the forecast was for winds out of the East (from Sunspot) at 15mph and the skies were otherwise clear all night. I can't say that I am happy about it since we might have been open all night long if it were not for the ash blowing through the air. Gordon Forecast:(4:30am) TODAY...FAIR SKIES THIS MORNING. PARTLY CLOUDY THIS AFTERNOON WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS. .TONIGHT AND SUNDAY...WIDELY SCATTERED AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING THUNDERSTORMS AND FAIR TO PARTLY CLOUDY AT OTHER TIMES.
