Gordon Richards was the observer for the evening, as the time was traded with UW05. COMMENTS:No luck observing, but apparently Jon Brinkman and Jim Gunn had some more luck with DIS this afternoon. I'm told that the RN problems are still not fully understood, but whatever they did brought the RN down to 9.02 electrons on the blue side and 9.93 electrons on the red side. Both of those numbers are better than they have been in 4 years. Many thanks! Hopefully we can keep them there. They did some changing around of the power suppies, which has changed the gain on the red side, so Tia and I spent some time measuring it tonight. The red gain is now 1.497 electrons/ADU, while the blue side is 0.992 electrons/ADU (with an error of about 0.005). It is likely that there will be some more changes, but if not, then I will post those numbers to the DIS mailing list. Also of note is that for the last 2 nights DIS has been off by one grating step position when I have initially set the grating tilts. Increasing the tilts by 20-30 Angstroms and then moving them back solved the problem each time. Gordon The Lens Monitoring program was shut out by weather.
