Chris Stoughton was the observer for UC05. COMMENTS:Once the clouds cleared, we started taking the calibration star exposure at 04:06 UT and then spent the rest of the time taking low-resolution spectra of QSO candidates. The telescope and instrument worked well. (I assume people are aware of the high read noise in the DIS camera.) The cloud camera stopped working during the night. Thanks! Ted Wyder was the observer for the second half of the evening. COMMENTS:Everything went very smoothly tonight. The seeing was mostly subarcsecond even in 20 minute exposures at H-alpha. There were no problems with the pointing or guiding; both worked very well. I only had one small problem with spicam. During one exposure the "time left" stopped updating. I aborted the exposure and tried to read it out but nothing ended up in the file on disk. I then logged off of spicam and logged back in again. That seemed to fix the problem. --Ted P.S.
