There was no threatening weather at the outset of the evening, but the impenetrable cloud cover brought about the decision to close again at 22:50. There was no usable science data taken during this interval. We remained optimistic until, at ~01:10, the dew-point rose 5 degrees, the temperature dropped 5 degrees, leaving us with a dew-point depression of 0.9 degrees. The dust jumped some 2000 counts, and the humidity hit 95%! These changes occurred in about 15 minutes! I then shut the enclosure down tight (fans off & louvers closed) against the threatening rain, and remained so for the rest of the night. NOTE: Tonight is the final night for science observing at APO due to the July engineering shutdown. Shutdown will begin on Monday, July 6th, and continue through July 24th, at which time we will be online again. The following week will be spent testing the upgrades and repairs before returning to science data on the targeted date of August 1st. During this interval there will be no night logs, but they will resume upon the return to science observing. *** See you on August 1st!
