Michael Strauss and Xiaohui Fan were the first observers. Comments:Things went smoothly; we lost one 20-minute exposure to our negligence to update to the latest version of Remark. A word to the wise: be *sure* to update to Remark 2.41a! Otherwise, beautiful skies, good seeing, and good science; we discovered one hot white dwarf and two genuine quasars in one square degree of the SDSS first-light data. Many thanks to Tia for her usual efficient help. Alan Dierks and Chris Stubbs were the observers for the Gamma Ray Burst which was observed for 1 hour of PU05 time and 1 hour of UC01 time.(23:55-2:30) Comments:We took a second epoch of images of the ongoing GRB. Seeing was typically worse than 2 arcsec, we obtained roughly 1500 sec exposures at 4 SPICAM pointings. All went well. Connie Rockosi was observing for the last part of the evening. Comments:Wonderful weather and no problems with either SPICAM or the telescope a good observing session. All communication problems seem to be fixed. Comments from 6/11/98:We (Drs. Konigl and Mazeh) had a few observing hours on the nights of June 8 -11. The actual observer was Tsevi Mazeh, who operated the telescope and GRIM remotely from Israel. We observed bright nearby stars in J, H, and K to look for faint secondaries. The weather was favourable only for the last night. GRIM worked very well. The communication was very good too, so we were able to use efficiently use our observing time. Tia help was very good.
