The skies were clear all night, and the dust counts had dropped from the previous days. Seeing was good, with the best being 0.92". The telescope was closed at 04:30. OBSERVER COMMENTS Hastings (PU01) - A good first night on the telescope (that we opened!). No hardware or software problems. Too many cookies though.... Xiao Hui (PU02) - Perfect night, only one small problem. REMARK displayed "imaging" when in spectral mode, even when synced. Obs Specialist Note: It was later determined that the remote station was using an old version of REMARK (V2.39) while the control room is using V2.41. These versions are not completely compatible. Any stations using this, or any other, older version of REMARK than V2.41 should upgrade to avoid such errors. Instructions for downloading the new version are on the APO website, under "REMARK". http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/Telescopes/Remark/Remark.shtml FOCUS LOG MAY 23rd, 1998 Best Telescope Wind Seeing Time Instr Focus Az El #Temp Dir MPH filter FWHM " ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:06 DIS -300(6436) 326 58 12.7/13.6 247 16 r .99" 22:22 DIS -200(6482) 278 53 12.3/12.9 264 19 r 1.18" 02:25 DIS -175(6413) 272 64 11.3/11.6 278 8 r .92" #The first temp is air, the second is truss, both in degrees Celsius WEATHER LOG MAY 23rd, 1998 Wind Time Temp-F Dewp-F MPH Direction Dust Sky Precip ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:01 64 7 15 258 (WSW) 1220 Clear None 17:01 63 6 16 256 (WSW) 1230 Clear None 18:01 62 7 11 265 (W) 1680 Clear None 19:01 58 5 12 259 (W) 1849 Clear None 20:01 55 5 10 241 (WSW) 1765 Clear None 21:01 55 4 13 250 (WSW) 1736 Clear None 22:01 55 4 14 262 (W) 1780 Clear None 23:01 52 4 15 256 (WSW) 1769 Clear None 00:01 54 4 14 267 (W) 1731 Clear None 01:01 53 6 12 266 (W) 1600 Clear None 02:01 53 6 13 271 (W) 1670 Clear None 03:01 52 8 13 271 (W) 1999 Clear None 04:01 51 12 10 272 (W) 2520 Clear None note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
