SPICAM was used for the Adler and Lens Monitoring program this evening to test the function of the instrument. Peter Doherty and I took biases and short skyflats, and the new slit shutter mechanism seemed to work perfectly. Dave Cole then began a series of exposures, with no problems to speak of. I observed Abell 2213 for 600 seconds for the Lens Monitoring as suggested by Alan Dierks. No problems. Tom Williams and Paul Mason were on site for the NM10 program. Comments: We had a good run ... seeing was subarcsecond all night, instruments performed well. Thanks for your help. cheers Tom Willams (* means a trouble report has been issued or appended to) FOCUS LOG MAY 15, 1998 Best Telescope Wind Seeing Time Inst Focus Az El Temp# Dir MPH filter FWHM " 20:30 SPICAM -300(6094) 196.1 68.6 7.9/9.65 208.6 13.0 R 0.96 21:36 SPICAM -250(6221) 28.9 38.9 8.0/8.44 211.5 10.8 R 0.95 22:15 GRIM2 -200(6296) -97.1 74.7 8.3/7.92 247.2 8.1 J 0.84 # The first temp is air, the second is truss, both in degrees C.
