Opening was delayed by clouds. The observers were myself for PU01 and Charles Hoopes for NM02. PU01 was clouded out. Charles tried out the new DIS/Remark software. I screwed up the offset on a spectral exposure, which cost a bit of time. *We had a problem with the TCC that interfered with drift scanning. I got it sorted out, although it did cost us some time. After that drift scanning went fine. OBSERVER COMMENTS Charles (NM02) - Lots of clouds in the first half, so I only got one 45 minute spectrum of diffuse ionized gas in M101. It is probably not useful due to the high readnoise of DIS. Then we switched to Spicam. Mis-communication between the tcc and spicam made driftscanning impossible. I lost about an hour diagnosing and fixing the problem, which meant rebooting the tcc. After that things went smoothly and driftscanning worked as expected.
