Patricia Knezek was onsite to observe for John Hopkins. She was in the process of training, and we accomplished quite a bit her first night. I was the observer for the Lens Monitoring run. I observed 0957 with no problems. Patricia Knezek was back on for the second half of the evening. Comments:Overall, things went quite smoothly, especially considering it was my first night on this telescope and with DIS! I really like the absolute wavelength setting possibility, it makes getting started MUCH less painful. I found the web-arclamp interface very awkward and time consuming, especially since it always logged me off while the lamps were on, so I had to re-login in order to turn them off. I am a little puzzled by the response of the red chip. It seems to be at least a factor of 6 less sensitive in high resolution mode, which is very awkward when it comes to taking standards, etc. I know the pixels are smaller, but even so... Also, if I had the red chip in low dispersion mode and centered on 5791A, the chip basically cuts off blueward of 5700A. Is there a filter to cut off the blue somewhere? Chris Stubbs generously donated a 1/2 hour of time to my program since he couldn't really do his, which I deeply appreciate! And thanks to Tia for all her cheerful help, even though she's in pain! The GUIDER seemed to work well. Chris Stubbs was going to take the shift for the UW05 program, but decided the time could be used for other programs due to the clouds. Comments:1. first half hour to JHU 02 program, through 0345 2. Photometry using DIS, of Margon's object and Turner's lensing program. It is my assessment that these programs make better use of the time, given the conditions, than the projects I had planned to carry out.
