Dave Cole and Gordon Richards were on hand for te Adler run, but heavy clouds kept us from opening (also extremely high dust counts). Susana Deustua was onsite to observe for UC02, but was clouded out for most of the evening. When I finally opened, there was a communication problem with the axis controllers. I had to called Craig Loomis and Karen Gloria for help. This problem was not corrected until 01:05. Therefore, the Lens Monitoring time was lost. Craig's Comments: Communication with all the axis controllers was flakey, the controllers could not be HOSTed to, the terminal server took two tries to reboot, and the communications problem re-occurred after the server was rebooted. The temperature was reported as -11.6 C, which appears to be lower than we usually see. The server was installed during the summer. Barring new elucidating evidence, I'd like to insulate the server. It runs very cool, so we might even want to add some heat. Charles Hoopes was finally able to begin at 01:20, and we continued without problems for the rest of the evening. Comments:Very good weather. Telescope problems ate up the first 30 to 40 minutes. No problems other than that. -Charles (* means a trouble report has been issued or appended to) FOCUS LOG FEBRUARY 27, 1998 Best Telescope Wind Seeing Time Inst Focus Az El Temp# Dir MPH filter FWHM " 01:30 DIS -250(5521) -51.4 70.2 -11.4/-6.83 359.8 17.8 IN 1.26 # The first temp is air, the second is truss, both in degrees C.
