Skies were clear or mostly clear until 23:00. GRIM was found non-functional during the afternoon checkout. The symptoms are that ping, and all exposure functions fail. We could however talk to to the mechanicals. The standard things of restarting the grimmac and software didn't change anything. The fiber box checked out ok. The fibers themselves were lossier than they should be ( Craig may have switched one in the end ) but were not the problem. Power cycling the instrument resulted in no change. Many thanks to Dale Sanford for helping check on GRIM. GRIM was declared down for the night and Tom Harrison decided to give Joni Johnson the time using DIS. Since hi-res was needed and not currently loaded about 2 hours of their time was used to set up DIS. 2nd half observing specialist: Karen Gloria The telescope was closed at 23:00 MST due to high humidity. Fog rolled in shortly thereafter. The site was enveloped in fog for the remainder of the night.
