Francisco Castander opted to use SPIcam instead of DIS. I observed for the lens monitoring run. The first images showed poor collimation and didn't come to a tight focus. The fwhm was around 1.5", but the images were asymetric. I suspect the actual seeing was closer to 1.0". Pointing was about 100 arcsec high in altitude. Around the beginning of Francisco's time we started getting double images with widely varing image quality. Jon Davis came in to check and tune the primary mirror support system (PMSS). The PMSS was unstable and wasn't responding well to attempts to tune it. After several hours it was decided to call it for the night and try again in the morning. 2nd half observing specialist: Russet McMillan Ditto. OBSERVER COMMENTS DD02 (Castander): Weather conditions fine. We started observing at 19:35 as scheduled. Exposures a few minutes long showed double images of the same object. We stopped observing at 20:55 (Mountain time) to check the problems that were causing the double images. We did not open for the rest of the allocated time as checks of the primary support system continued.
