It was extremely foggy during the day on parts of the mountain. It was even foggy in downtown Alamogordo. Scott Burles (UC) is on site to become a trained observer. He and I went over telescope and instrument operations. Scott contacted Dan Vanden Berk, the UC05 observer, and negotiated the choice of a single grating set both observers could use, thus avoiding a middle of the night grating change. Dan Long and I reviewed DIS grating change procedures in the afternoon. No notable instrument problems to report. Russet McMillan: Still cloudy and rainy during second half, with the wind picking up considerably. Scott Burles used his time to get acquainted with the instrument and take some cals.
