DIS was behaving well after the hardware modifications to the cooling system during the day. The telescope pointing was unreliable, particularly in altitude. Russet McMillan: DIS continued to maintain temperature well throughout the second half. We only made a few long slews -- on one the pointing was off by over 30", and on most others the pointing was fine. We had one jump in tracking, while no guiding was on -- this was near the same position where the same thing happened last night (with guiding on): AZ EL ROT 10/10 -122.4 68.9 -111.2 10/11 +241.4 62.5 -117.9 The sky cleared around midnight, but the wind also picked up. By 1am the seeing had become much worse, and Pat Waddell reported ugly images from the 2.5m at the same time. After 3am the wind died down again and the seeing improved somewhat. OBSERVER COMMENTS Everything went pretty smoothly tonight except for the small telescope skip near 3:30am again (looking at M31). For the hour before and after objects were transiting meridian (near zenith), found that using the slit viewer for offsets during an exposure (instead of guide star) worked well. We saw Mothra in the sky-cam earlier.
