The sky was murky all night. The observers were Alan Diercks for UW01 and Ted Wyder and Brooke Skelton for UW06. Both programs used SPIcam. Ted and Brooke lost a bit of time due to the guider mac crashing (which required resetting the guide camera controller). This was the only guider failure, not counting the numerous times it lost the guide star due to clouds. Alan remarked that if we had enough influence to get the clouds cleared away we could forget the telescope and just ask questions! I have been using Jeff Morgan's new guide camera focusing script - very handy! I also tested Bob Loewenstein's newest version of Remark which has some fixes to problems in earlier versions. This version hasn't been released yet. I still need to test the changes to the DIS configuration commands on some calibration images. The DIS xfer dewar developed a leak, which I was able to fix before it became a real problem. OBSERVER COMMENTS Alan (UW01) - "Thanks for having everything ready... Every thing went very smoothly, except for the clouds it was quite successful." Ted and Brooke (UW06) - forgot to ask for comments - will get them when they observe again on monday FOCUS LOG JANUARY 31 1997 Best Telescope Wind Seeing Time Inst Focus Az El #Temp Dir MPH filter FWHM " 18:25 SPIcam 0(6013) 154 48 -1.8/-1.1 352 2 1.0 18:40 guider 51400( ) 161 50 -1.9/-1.4 343 2 R 1.3 20:25 SPIcam - 25(6000) 113 41 -0.6/-1.8 327 9 V 1.2 21:55 SPIcam -100(5847) 139 57 -1.9/-2.0 345 8 I 0.8 00:20 SPIcam -100(5782) 332 69 -1.8/-2.7 318 7 V 0.8 #The first temp is air, the second is truss, both in degrees Celsius WEATHER JANUARY 31 1997 Wind Time Temp F Dewp.
