For the first half of the night, most of the observing occured when the line moved sufficiently NE. The majority of the second half was lost due to high humidity. No data was obtained for the Turner Lens Monitoring program due to high humidity and mostly cloudy conditions. Paula Szkody observed for the first half. After several attempts at opening, we were able to have generally clear skies and good conditions for the end of her time. The changing conditions did however limit her data to only a few good spectrum. Brad Holden observed with SPICAM for the second half. At roughly 01:15, the humidity rose and we were forced to close. Only one or two useful science exposures were obtained. We attempted to observe latter in the night, but overcast conditions forced a quick closing as well. By 5:00am, conditions had become worse and an early end to the drill was called. OBSERVER COMMENTS Paula Szkody "I have obtained about 11 spectra, 5 of which are good and the other six are lower quality due to clouds but usable at some level" Brad Holden "no problems" FOCUS LOG January 3, 1998 Time Inst Focus Az El Temp Wind Filter FWHM deg C dir mph arc-sec 01:15 SPI -150(6021) 2 58 0/0 270 12 V 1.07 03:35 SPI -50(5951) 174 57 -.7/-.7 270/17 V 1.00 WEATHER LOG January 3, 1998 Time Temp Dewpt Windspeed Dir Dust Sky Precip. 16:01 38 31 15 215 (SW) 406 prtly cldy 17:01 35 29 12 255 (WSW) 378 prtly cldy 18:01 33 28 8 269 (W) 316 mstly cldy 19:01 33 29 13 266 (W) 371 mstly cldy 20:01 33 28 7 227 (SW) 375 mstly cldy 21:01 33 27 18 268 (W) 403 mstly cldy 22:01 33 27 15 267 (W) 500 mstly cldy 23:01 32 27 13 265 (W) 489 clear 00:01 32 26 12 268 (W) 627 clear 01:01 30 27 10 260 (W) 562 clear 02:01 30 29 11 259 (W) 432 clear 03:01 30 27 10 268 (W) 614 clear 04:01 31 24 13 267 (W) 434 prtly cldy 05:01 31 26 12 266 (W) 374 overcast TELESCOPE STATUS Operational: Configured for normal left Nasmyth operation.
