Assembly will continue Monday, possibly re-assembled and ready for extensive tests by the end of the day. Bernadette Rodgers observed with Dis. We lost a few minutes at the beginning as the eyelid on the mirror cover lost it's engagement with the actuator and dropped shut. Otherwise, no problems. Tim Harrison used DIS instead of Spicam for his block. The net was incredibly unreliable, sometimes stopping to a complete stop for 10min or more. The wind had picked up considerably and this did effect tracking somewhat, hard to keep the last two objects on the slit. The last 10min of his time was lost as I closed due to high wind. I remained closed for the first 1.5hrs of Gene Magnier's time . The wind continued to have occasional gusts slightly above 35mph. We observed until 03:55 when Gene had no more useful targets for DIS (time was initially intended to use Spicam). OBSERVER COMMENTS: Bernadette Rodgers Offsetting along the slit was very fast and trouble-free this evening. I lost about 10 minutes at the beginning for a pointing correction, but otherwise the run went very well. I changed my grating settings to compensate for deltas between the requested and actual central wavelengths, but the deltas were different from what was expected. (details forwarded to observing specialists) Tom Harrison -no comments solicated- Gene Magnier Except for the early problems with the wind, it was a successful night. We are glad we were able to use the time on short notice since Ted Wyder's program required Spicam. Our objects set fairly early so we spent part of the tme doing cals (especially important as we are using custon masks instead of the usual long slits) No particular problems with DIS or communications.
