The weather was very good. The observers were Rhodri Evans for UC09, myself for EN01, and David Reiss for UW05. Rhodri continued his polarimetry. There were a few communication glitches, which cost him a little time. Otherwise, I think his run went well. For the engineering run, I took a set of throughput data. The sky was clear, but there was a lot of moonlight. Not sure how that will affect the data. I also took stellar fwhm vs. altitude data with the guider. That's what all those focus data are about. Someone will have to tell me how to separate out the effect of airmass on the fwhm, because these data are intended to look for the effect of the primary mirror support system on the fwhm vs. altitude. I ended the time with a set of 62 pointing model data points (not reduced yet). The current pointing model appears to be working quite well. David Reiss obtained spectra of a supernova. No problems to report during his run. He was able to use some of my calibration images from the throughput data. OBSERVER COMMENTS Rhodri (UC09): (From Sunday night) "Once again the weather proved to be on my side for a change, I was scheduled on the telescope from 19:48 to 23:55, and was using GRIM II to continue getting near infrared imaging polarimetry of NGC 1999. Apart from some cloud early on in the evening my half night proved to be clear and I obtained good data. I had a little more trouble with my scripts crashing than on Friday night, but the crashes were no more frequent than seems normal. At one point I lost about 10 to 15 minutes of time due to a communication breakdown between my Mac and APO, it is not clear if this was a problem at my end or there. Once again Karen was efficient in all that I asked of her." Rhodri (UC09): (tonight) "Once again a good night, my third out of three. Apart from Karen having to reboot the GRIM Mac once the communications worked very well, hardly any hangups in my scripts, so no complaints. This run has been the best I have had at APO in terms of weather, let it continue!" David (UW05): "Sky was clear and observing was problem-free. Much thanks to Karen for her help."
