Twilight time was used to test telescope tracking. The source of last night's azimuth oscillation was found by the day staff and corrected (the azimuth motors needed to be retuned). Tracking (and pointing) were very good. No evidence of oscillation. With instructions from Russ Owen, I reverted back to the new version of the TCC software (which was pulled out last night). This ran over into PU01 a bit. Tom Harrison contacted me with a GRB target of opportunity observation request. A new GRB was detected at 12h UT on 8/15. The remaining PU01 time was used to observe the GRB, although it was cloudy in that quadrant at the time. UC03 didn't show. I tried to contact the observers, but they may both be out of the country at this time. I let Tom continue his GRB observations with GRIM2 on UC03's time (this is charged to UC03). Tom was able to cover the central portion of the error box in the J band under very good sky conditions. Brooke Skelton and Gene Magnier were the observers for UW08. They offered to observe the GRB with SPIcam. The sky conditions continued to be very good. After the GRB observations, *the azimuth axis started to overshoot very badly, sometimes even ignoring axis inits. It overshot every slew larger than 10 or so degrees for the remainder of the night. After UW08 was done, Craig Loomis logged in and he and I ran some of his overslew tests, which collected some interesting data.
