We had a brief spell of nice partly cloudy sky. It's a good thing I didn't open the telescope though, because it poured rain 15 minutes later. The engineering plan was to continue guide camera tests on the sky, take pointing model data, and collect throughput data. Since the weather made none of this an option, I tested the 2-arcsec (new) steel DIS slit against the 2-arcsec quartz slit. I've sent a brief report to techstaff. The calibration lamp spectra I took indicate that the steel slits will perform beter than the quartz slits. I also took some high resolution He lamp spectra for our web page of lamp spectra.
