The telescope was closed until 02:30 MDT, due to clouds and dust. It was open from 02:30 until 03:25 MDT, when it was closed due to high humidity. The telescope was reopened at 04:40 MDT. Tom Harrison was the observer for NM05. He was clouded out (and dusted out). Don Hoard was the observer for UW10 and UW01. Once the telescope was open, he and I quickly got going. He took two high resolution spectra of one target. I had to adjust the focus quite a bit during the first exposure, so some photons were lost there. The second exposure was cut short due to the humidity closure. We were doing well until then, however. The pointing and tracking were good (for that target). This is thanks to the people who worked on the telescope over the past two days (Jon D., Charles C., and Dave W.). I was able to reopen at the start of twilight. Don used this time to get a spectrum of his standard star. Charles Corson installed the new 1.5 arcsec steel slit made at Johns Hopkins. This is the slit Don used for his observations. Charles also took a set of arc lamp images to check the repeatability of the DIS grating position (since Jon Brinkman and Richard Lucinio recently changed the DIS software to keep the grating detent in after the "home" sequence is completed. I will be looking at these images as soon as time permits.
