Marianne Takamiya observed for the UC02 program using Grim in Imaging mode. However, due to telescope axis failures, and weather, no useful data was obtained. Pointing was found to be substantially off. In trying to resolve this, the telescope was moved, first in azimuth, then in elevation. The move in elevation resulted in an elevation overshoot. The overshoots continued and I was able to obtain a hard copy of the TACH, MOTOR CURRENT, and INPUT. The azimuth drive also overshot (and overshot also when closing). The dome was closed at 23:25, primarily due to clouds, but we remained closed throughout the night due to dust. We now have a dust monitor in the dome. It was noted that, while open, the dust counts followed the tower monitor relatively well, especially as the dust counts rose. Conditions were not favorable for the Engineering time or the Lens monitoring run. A small fire was sited below the observatory, SE. Karen notified the forest department and Sunspot. No evidence was seen that the fire continued, or had spread througout the night or this morning.
