Opening was delayed by a *problem with the DIS, which is being worked on today. This cost the UC01 observer, Gordon Richards a lot of his time. The problem was alleviated for a little while so Gordon was able to get some data. The slit camera isn't working from the control room, but I was able to use it up on the observing level. The middle third of the night was originally scheduled to JHU, but they didn't want the time (for scheduling reasons) so I used it for engineering. because of the problem with DIS, I continued the engineering through the PU01 time, for which I was the observer. I used the engineering to finish the guider instrument block. It wasn't an easy one. Five iterations were needed to converge on a good enough block. I tested it and it points, rotates and offsets ok. I tried some centroiding on FK5 stars, but the guide software didn't see them. The sky was very bright by then, though.
