Seeing was the nominal 1.2" *After yesterdays obslog, I saw that the slitcam was not responding to the PC so, it is likely a victim of the the lightning from the previous night. Craig Loomis determined today that the SBIG CPU is not communicating, some diagnostics remains to be done. Currently it is unusable. *At 20:50, the rotator rotated to it's physical limit. At the beginning of the slew, the controller saw the encoder at 357,911 and wrapped fully. No damage to the wrap-up was observed. The rotator was unwrapped, re-zeroed, and the telescope returned to service. (rotator had passed check out) The dust count was high, 12-1500cnts, but at 22:20, pollen/dust was observed to be particularly worse as observed in front of the dome. The dome was closed. We remained closed as the wind shifted directly out of the west and produced significant quantities of pollen/dust at the catwalk. At 02:10, the dust settled to 1200cnts and the dome was opened. At 02:15, we suffered two successive brown-outs. The telescope was re-initialized and tracked sufficiently to obtain a partial focus with DIS. **At 02:25, the azimuth axis began oscillating, and communication to the axis was lost during query. I re-booted TCC and control was regained. -tracking due west. The brown-out caused a power failure condition for the dome motor controllers. A power reset cured the fault. At 02:25, the dome was again closed due to increased pollen at the catwalk and enclosure. The dome was re-opened at 03:45 with good conditons and significantly diminshed pollen/dust at the catwalk. Paul Mason used the available time to observe a Nova candidate confirmation, airmass ~4. The Nova was well exposed and several spectra were obtained in blue and red. Utility power began to go at 05:20. From 5:30 - 5:50, the site was on generator power. Brown-outs also occured at 02:25.
