Opening was delayed by a thunderstorm near miss. Chris Stubbs and Jeff Morgan hoped to work with the guider during twilight. The weather didn't look good at first, but I was able to open eventually and found no stars in the guide camera field of view (if anyone is wondering, the baffle was out). I didn't have time to pull off the spectrograph and remount it before the end of twilight, so I didn't poke my head in the Nasmyth port for a sanity check. I was the observer for PU01, which was cut a little short by a *problem with the spectrograph. This ran way into Salman's time. I have, at least temporarily, gotten the DIS working but don't know how long it will last. Salman didn't have enough time left to do his science by the time I had the DIS working, so he handed over the telescope to me for engineering use until the end of his observing time. I used the time to work with the guider. The (partial) guider instrument block was way, way off (at least 90 degrees in rotation and several arcmin in centering). I've switched over to an older block, which does put stars near the chip. I will start with this on Sunday, when Chris Stubbs and I plan to work on this again. Dan Zucker and Paul Hodge had some *telescope tracking problems evident in some of their images. I think, based on the information I have, it was the altitude axis.
