Tom Harrison was the observer for NM08. We were forced to use DIS, even though GRIM2 was scheduled due to the problem incurred the previous evening. He began early taking biases and flats, and as we began his time, there was a communication problem to the MC, and I had to restart it, wherein he lost 15 minutes. Then the grating turret timed out, Tom could not configure DIS. I used the " COLDROBOT" >micro ct command, which fixed the problem, and we got on the sky. (He lost 30 minutes to this problem) We then used High Res. to obtain his images, with use of the slit viewer. At 23:45, I noticed the dust count rise dramatically, and the humidity increase. The dust count went over the allowable limit, causing me to close. Tom decided to hand over his last hour to Bernadette Rodgers. She began obtaining biases and flats, while waiting for things to clear up. We kept encountering the gratings time out problem, and I fixed it a number of times. I finally decided to power cycle the micro and reboot Mirella, and this seemed to be the sure fix. I decided to reopen at 03:30 when the dust count had stayed in the same place for quite some time. Bernadette slewed, and the azimuth axis ran away. It stated that the move was complete, but it just kept going and then turning the other way and continuing. I stopped it, and tried to slew, but the runaway reoccurred. At this time I elected to REMAP, and Bernadette signed off for the evening at 04:10. All problems this evening are now corrected to the best of my ability.
