I tried to begin taking Lens Monitoring data using 0957, but a huge cloud was in that area of the sky, so I went to 1422. I got three exposures and had to close because the sky became completely overcast. I could not get an image through the clouds. The second observer was Bernie Rauscher. As the clouds finally broke up at 23:15, we began trying to run with GRIM2. Bernie informed me that he was seeing a problem in two of the quadrants, and he advised me to cycle the power on GRIM2. After doing this several times, and pinging the instrument, and rebooting the GRIM MAC, we called Jon Brinkman. He mentioned that this problem has occurred before. Since Bernie felt as though the instrument would be damaged if we kept pushing GRIM2, he elected to use DIS. Bernadette Rodgers also agreed that this would be the correct instrument to use. They discussed this, and came to the agreement that Bernie would use some of Bernadette's time to image a galaxy, and the rest would go to Bernadette. They would collaberate on using the twilight flats and dome flats from the morning. GRIM2 is still power cycled off, as directed by Bernie. The sky stayed clear for the rest of the evening. As an aside, I had to make my way through 30 cows to close up the cloud camera this morning.
