Jeff Morgan and Jon Davis, with assistance from me and Tia Hoyes ran extensive tests on the cable wrap during the day and into the evening, before going onto the sky. I edited the instrument blocks to allow for the new rotator wrap limits, except for the AOTF block, which already has more restrictive limits, and the chaos block, which doesn't use the rotator. Tia Hoyes and I tested the software wrap limits with DIS before going on the sky. The sky was photometric when we opened, so Tia and I took a set of throughput data with DIS. These are on marmot in /marm0/throughput/970617. After the throughput observations, Jeff and I took several long DIS integrations at various rotator angles and velocities. All the images showed good tracking (except near the zenith, as is expected). We made a point of making several large altitude slews to test the altitude axis motor as well. Ed Turner made arrangements for an early morning GRB observation. This was a target of opportunity. Alan Diercks (UW) volunteered to do the observations. These were done with SPIcam. I'm logging this as drop-in time for UW. If this is incorrect, I will revise the time account log. Two sonic booms were heard at the site. These occurred between 22:15 and 22:30 MDT. Very loud.
