The telescope was opened at 21:10 MDT. Equipment problems delayed the start of observing until 22:30 MDT. The telescope was closed at 03:00 MDT, due to a high level of airborne particles (dust or pollen) observed in my flashlight beam. *During the first half of the night, the telescope altitude drive ran away and drove the telescope into the zenith limit (no damage to the telescope). Charles has issued a problem report. Engineering work was done on the instrument blocks, with Russ Owen observing remotely from UW, assisted by myself and Charles Corson. Data was obtained with specially prepared instrument block files to track down some bugs in the instrument data fitting routine. The dust closure prevented Russ from completing the guider instrument block data set.
