The problem with the guider had nothing to do with power cycling the guider but rather, recovering from the guider software crash on the guider mac and fully initializing the camera. Recovery of the gcam funtion was delayed by some confusion about the initialization. The old system did not require the use of "gctrack 0,0 phys" in order to expose and read images. The new software now requires this step in order to complete the initialization. The guider was used successfully last night and it is not clear to me why Tia elected not to use it. If the software crashed on the mac again, or the gcam funtions hung, then more understanding of the failure will be needed. A Problem Report was generated last night regarding the cloudcam failure. In short, communications between the cloudcam and marmot are failing. The fwhm reported for the guider are technically correct, but the image quality is poor. It is doubtful just how accurate the fwhm as reported by IRAF is giving the elip. of the image. You can examine the guider image reported for 21:50, tycho:/export/images/gimage108.
