APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Wednesday March 11, 2026 (SJD 61111) ---- Observing Team ---- Dan Oravetz ---- Observing Plan ---- Wed 11 Mar 2026 61111 dark until 09:15 (7.0 h), then bright (3.1 h, w/ 0.2 h for 12 deg design) ---- Observing Summary ---- A clear and productive night overall, apart from the first and last ~hour of the night. The seeing was quite poor during the first ~1.5 hours of the night, but quickly improved and made for completing most dark fields in fewer than the planned number of designs. Nearing the end of the scheduled dark time the seeing had been holding at 1.1-1.2" fwhm for several designs leading up to the start of bright time so that once bright time began I completed a BOSS Focus Sweep test. The seeing seems to have drifted during the test, but it was far enough along at the time that it made sense to just complete it. By ~10:30Z the temperature had dropped a few degrees C as a colder front moved in and the seeing correspondingly worsened to ~2.5-3" fwhm.
