There is no connection to specMech. We tried to restore it without success in the evening. As a result, only APOGEE exposures, 36 designs, were observed. No BOSS exposures tonight. Then we decided to use the dark time for the next pointing model since BOSS exposures cannot be done, but a script on the MCP computer could not build fiducial tables. In turn, it complained about luck of global memory on the MCP computer. We decided to not reboot the MCP computer in the night and to keep going with APOGEE-only exposures in the dark time, for bright-time designs. Jose said that restarting the computer may restore the global memody access, but also there is a risk that it will crash. We (Jose, Kaike, and I) decided to wait for tomorrow for restarting the MCP computer. ---- Observing Log ---- Afternoon ========= I restarted actors jaeger, kronos, and apogeeql by request from John Donor. After restartint the robot 647 got enabled. It immediately created problems when the "danger" configuration was executed - on the "reverse" step. The robot was moved alone, then all were unwind, and then 647 was temporary disabled since it has created problems recent nights. Sorry, I cannot reproduce the alpha and beta angles since the checkout was done on a remote computer. The BOSS specMech was in disconnected status upon checkout. I tried basic operations to restore connection, but it didn't work. Email was sent to Katie and Jose, and Katie confirmed that the problem with specMech first staretd in the morning, but then it fixed itself. Jose was able to connect to STUI later, and Katie arrived on site. Katie trie d acombination of actions with the seril loopback device, but Jose was not able to see connection via the converters. During the procedures the connection to cameras wa lost, too. Finally, Jose restored connection to the cameras, but the specMech was still unavailable. All symptoms and error messages correspond to the ones on October 3. We decided to run APOGEE-only exposures since the first half of the night is bright. Then Kaike was going to prepare fiducial data for pointing model, and we plan to run the poiting model in the dark time.
