Clouds come and go, rain sensor went off at 07:05Z (but no rain indication on cloud cameras and no nearby radar although thick clouds at the moment). Close immediately anyway. Clouds thinned 30 minutes after closing. Re-open at 08:10Z. Sure enough, clouds came back after two exposures. Seeing was fine (1.0-1.9"). The last 2.3 hours was excellent, mostly clear sky with seeing at 1.0-1.3", observed and completed 5 dark-monitor designs (with b1 S/N^2 between 2.5 and 3.0) and 2 bright designs. Notes: 1. Failure mode of "hal expose --pairs --count 1": If BOSS instrument is being readout but APOGEE instrument is ready to take new exposures, the command will start a new exposure with apogee instrument but fail to start BOSS exposure. Then, the command fails but continue to exposing on apogee instrument (sometimes with a closing apogee shutter). Likely, the issue can fixed by starting BOSS exposure first. If starting BOSS exposure fails, the command fails without starting neither apogee nor BOSS exposures. The jira ticket COS-117 is created. 2.The rain sensor went off at 07:05Z,close FFS immediately and stopped exposures. Checked cloud cameras, didn't see rain drops, and no rain drops on the ground neither. Because of thick clouds with no nearby radar, we were not getting very useful data, I decided to take three apogee dome flats and close. 3. BOSS flats taken with the twilight script don't have lights (the script failed to turn on FF lamps).
