The first four hours it was cloudy, but we were near the edge of the cloud system and the prospects of opening appeared imminent the whole time. When the clouds did begin to start clearing around 2200 MST, the humidity increased. After an hour of watching the dewpoint depression teeter between 2.5-3C, we opened at 06:30Z to a partly cloudy sky and excellent seeing. Halfway through the first expose sequence, however, the humidity increased again (90% RH) and orographic clouds formed. For the next several hours the humidity was >~90%, but it was clear and once again felt like we could open on a moment's notice. Clouds formed on the east slopes and there were also clouds that moved in from the west. Once again it was a dance between clear skies and high humidity, or clouds and acceptable humidity. On a positive note, the auto-focus converged quickly for the lone design tonight and the measured FWHM in many of the GFA's was at the 1-arcsecond level (consistent with site seeing at the time), so at least we were able to see the auto-focus work well, albeit in very limited capacity.
