The 1st 1.5 hours was lost to the MCP issue and GFA4 problem. The rest of night was lost to the weather. However, we performed engineering/cloudy night tasks while we closed for the weather. 1. BOSS cameras were focused, Xmid, waveMid were adjusted, detector tilts measured and confirmed within the 0.5 degree limit. They are at 0.19 and 0.17 degrees for b1 and r1. 2. 8 real designs were loaded, executed, run fvc loop on them. The results show that the final fvc_perc_90 is around 10 um, the fvc_percent_reach is from middle to 50 to low 60, similar to what we had before the shutdown. 3. Since robot 478 and 535 reported collisions, the same behaviors as they do before the shutdown. They are disabled, and they are added to the disabled positioner list in jaeger_APO.yaml file. 4. BOSS spectro monthly checkout task is completed. 5. 80 BOSS biases, 358564-358643, and 21 900-sec dark, 358644 - 358657, 358668 - 358674. are obtained. Notes: 1. Thanks for bring it back. APO weather page reports 25m weather station information (However, the reported humidity is at least 10% higher than the values reported on 35m weather station and the handy device. While it reports the dewpoint difference is below 2 C, a surface touch doesn't feel any condensation) until 2 AM MDT. Then being off for 30 minutes, then Display the information again. But it stopped again at ~3:30 AM. ---- Engineering Issues ---- 1. Telescope failed to move in all axes via tcc neither MCP. The interlock shows mcp_ok in red. John and Ryan restarted MCP etc to fix the issue. 2. fliswarm refused to connect. Conor GFA4 timed out. He powered off GFA4 and NUC4, then other 5 GFAs connected successfully. It would be good if USB connections for GFA4 between the IEB and FPS. 3. The east door motor failed to run. I used the chain to open/close. ---- Software Issues ---- Alerts actor needs to be restarted. MCP was restarted by Ryan. fliswarm refused to connect until GFA 4 an NUC 4 were powered off by Conor. ---- Observing Log ---- Day and Afternoon: =========== Focus BOSS cameras and set XMID and WaveMid of SP1. After the tilt adjustment, collimator positions are at 31933, 32248, 30579. Measured b1 and r1 detector tilts: they are at 0.19 and 0.17 degrees. Both are within the limits of 0.5 degrees. No adjustment is needed. filswarm refused to connect. Jose was notified via email and voice mail. Called Conor who fixed the issue by powering off GFA4, and NUC4. From the message: host=sdss-gfa4 max retries exceeded, failed to connect, he thinks the GFA4 is offender, so he ran: jaeger power off gfa4, jaeger power off nuc4 fliswarm reconnect This allows GFA1-3,5,6 to connect. Conor suggested that USB between the IEB and FPS be checked out tomorrow. alerts Actor was not running. Restarted it. fvc 50-sec dark was checked, confirmed no bright spots. Telescope failed to move in all axes. Axis init works fine, but as soon as a motion is initialized, the relevant axis will go out-of-close loop. The interlock show all seems fine except for mcp_ok was in red. Contacted John who have Ryan rebooted MCP and performed other check got mcp_ok in green. After the MCP reboot, all three axes show positions at 0. "alt set_pos_deg 30" and "az set_pos_deg 121" were issued via MCP to recover the positions. "hub startnubs mcp" was issue from STUI to connect MCP. The East door motor fails. I operate it manually via the chain. The first set of APOGEE evening cal was taken with the gang connector in the sparse pak. The cal was retook at the dense pak. The data checked confirmed good. 01:40Z: start ventilation. Night: ====== 03:30Z: All issues are fixed, ready to open. But the sky is completed covered by clouds, even the moon is invisible. 04:30Z: Take 80 BOSS bias: 358564 - 358643. 06:19Z: Ten 900 sec dark 358644- 53. 05:25Z: load some real designs execute them, perform fvc-loop to test fvc loop result. Because 478 and 535 continue to report collisions as they did before the shutdown.
