This will be my final night log with SDSS, goodbye and good luck. Notes: - We had an issue with the LN2 dewar, see main log for full description. ---- Observing Log ---- APOGEE and BOSS cals taken Mirror numbers in spec 22:09:34 sp1.motor.move= 511, 512, 510 22:09:34 Hartmann collimate output sp1: offset: r= -329 (In Focus); b= -4.2 (Out of focus) sp1: pred. move: spAverageMove= 510 sp1: pred. resid: r= -839, b= -2.6, txt= OK, spTemp = 3.2 Blue ring not adjusted When going out to the telescope for final checks, I found that the 180L LN2 tank had a massive amount of frost over the knob and surrounding area, which wasn't there in the early night. My best theory is that during the previous secondary fill, some frost froze, loosening the joint between the tank and the line. This micro-gap caused a slow leak for several hours. I tried starting a secondary fill, but this caused a much faster leak of LN2, so I stopped it. I tried tightening the joint, but it felt very tight. I decided the only way to be sure that the connection was good was to completely disconnect it, then reconnect it while it's warm and dry. I disconnected it, then used the heat gun until it stopped condensing more frost. I then reconnected it, and the connection seemed very good. I did a secondary fill, and didn't notice a leak again. Even if there is still an issue, there should still be enough LN2 in the tank for me to check tomorrow before I leave. According to Grafana, this leak didn't cause us to lose a substantial amount of LN2, even though there was a ton of frost. If it started during the previous fill, it would most likely have been leaking for several hours. ---- Mirror Numbers ---- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: 0.0080 0.0080 Axial B: 0.0040 0.0040 Axial C: -0.0280 -0.0270 Trans D: 0.0410 0.0380 Lateral E: 0.3315 0.3315 Lateral F: 0.5355 0.5355 GALILS Commanded: 12500 -1600 5300 47050 -8800 -8400 Actual: 12500 -1600 5300 47050 -8800 -8400 SETMIR VALUES PrimDesOrient: 0.0 -59.5 -9.15 -512.0 1906.3 PrimOrient: 1.07 -59.51 -9.21 -512.13 1906.31 SECONDARY: ---------- Focus: 0.0000 Air temp: 0.00 Altitude: 30.0 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: -0.0330 -0.0330 Axial B: -0.0290 -0.0280 Axial C: -0.0490 -0.0480 Trans D: -0.2620 -0.2750 GALILS Commanded: 4898550 4873800 4965500 -50 -3450 Actual: 4859243 4859167 4859249 -50 -3450 SETMIR VALUES SecDesOrient: 3857.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 42.22 SecOrient: 3857.0 -0.02 -0.03 -0.02 42.88 ---- Telescope Status ---- Closed all night Status at: 7:47:38Z Telescope Position: 121.0, 30.0, 0.0 mount Instrument mounted: FPS Counterweights at: 697.4, 696.9, 714.8, 714.4 LN2 autofill systems: Connected and turned on 180L LN2 dewar scale: SP1 122 lbs, 23.8 psi Chiller Flow: 7.18 L/min to FPS, 1.71 L/min to GFAs, 5.5/6.0 gpm total Chiller Temp: 1.0C No chiller alarms ---- Software Used ---- -- STUI software: STUI : 1.7.18b1 alerts : 2.3.0 boss : 6.0.2-alpha.0 -boss.specMec : 3.0.4 apo : 3.0.1 fliswarm : 0.4.0 jaeger : 1.3.0-alpha.0 kaiju : 1.2.4-alpha.0 coordio : 1.5.0-beta.2 fps_calibrati : 2022.09.11+ec0a431 cherno : 0.4.0 astrometrynet : 0.91 hal : 0.4.1a0 hartmann : 2.0.2 hub : 5.0.1a0 mcp : 2.1-1-ge461 -mcp.plc : 35 -mcp.azFiduci : v1_147 -mcp.altFiduc : v1_147 -mcp.rotFiduc : v1_147 tcc : 1.4.0 apogee : not availble apogeecal : not availble apogeeql : v1_7_0dev STUIAdditions : 3.1.20 -- done -- --------------Other Versions-------------- sdss-obstools : 3.9.3 TPM : 1.2-31-gd7eb MCP : 2.1-1-ge461 PLC : V35 Fiducials : v1_147 idlspec2d : v6_0_9 Kronos : 1.5.0 roboscheduler : 1.2.2 /dev/sdb1 2.0T 240G 1.8T 12% /home /dev/sdd1 22T 5.7T 16T 28% /data ---- BOSS Spectrographs Collimation ---- Time Field-Design Temp R off B off Move Resid ================================================================================ 19:11:04 101701-118875 3.3 -1319 0.8 -788 -1.7 22:09:31 101701-118875 3.2 -329 -4.2 510 -2.6 ---- Time Tracking ---- *=*=*= Observatory: APO *=*=*= MJD: 59942 Fill night time in Hours below *=*=*= Total bright time : 5.2 *=*=*= Bright time, queued observations : 0 *=*=*= Bright time, commissioning/engineering: 0 *=*=*= Bright time lost to weather : 5.2 *=*=*= Bright time lost to technical issues : 0 *=*=*= Total dark time : 6.6 *=*=*= Dark time, queued observations : 0 *=*=*= Dark time, commissioning/engineering : 0 *=*=*= Dark time lost to weather : 6.6 *=*=*= Dark time lost to technical issues : 0
