If you're able to open the main goal will be to collect "jaeger scale" sweeps on various designs with science exposures. For tonight please focus on APOGEE fields, and favor design that have been observed previously (35945, 35929, 35939, 35913, or 35899), as long as airmass is ~ --scale XXX, and execute Run an FVC loop and make sure the RMS is ~< 10 microns. slew to field and acquire/guide Expose Science jaeger reverse stop tracking Note: If there is typically time for more scale values while the field is ~< 1.2, add in [0.99986, 1.00014]. If there isn't enough time remove [0.999, and 1.001]. ---- Observing Summary ---- The first half of the night was extremely cloudy, but we stayed open. The second half of the night, we collected images for the focal plane / wok scale test (table of results below) with assistance from Jon Holtzman online. This was done in mostly clear skies, but not great seeing (2-2.5"). Notes: ====== We encountered issues executing configurations from almost ALL fields tonight. "Trajectory failed with error: Something went wrong sending the trajectory: At least one SEND_TRAJECTORY_COMMAND failed". There was no correlation with robots (flagged robots throughout the night: 1285, 184, 641, 608, 533, 1136), but ran into false collisions at almost every 'execute' phase. The time needed to troubleshoot was at least 15 minutes in between exposures. Design 35913 (1631-34) took 4 attempts to execute successfully. Design 35945 (1636-37) took 2. Design 35945 (1638-39) took 2 attempts and was a super tricky one to solve (needed to move individual robots manually to get them unstuck - 30 minutes to troubleshoot). Design 35961 (1643-47) took 3+ attempts (ended up disabling a few fibers). Design 35961 had extremely poor guiding, and zero signal in the exposure. We cannot explain what happened unless the scale had something to do with it (or the design). The last field of the night had trouble centering on a fvc loop.
