Altitude tests ---- Observing Summary ---- Started with partly cloudy sky, opened, but then were pressed to close by a nearby radar. Later, rain started. After that the sky got clear, but the seeing was very variable for our test. Notes ----- - the entire night was lost to the weather. - dust accumulated: 0.9K - The ECam had the NDx8 filter on last night, but it was swapped today for the ND64 filter, by Kaike's request. - The telescope's balance with the ECam loaded is good at most altitudes, but during the filter swap, I noticed that the balance at 90deg was awful and it fell up when pressing a stop button. ---- Observing Log ---- Mirror numbers in spec APOGEE cals started, including 30-read FPI Swapped out the ECam's NDx8 filter out for the ND64 filter ECam flat had 37k counts at 50s 00:25Z Started ventilation Night ----- 01:09Z enclosure open. The sky is significantly cloudy. 02:04Z we've got a nearby radar. Also, a weather system with radars coming from Las Cruces just crossed the border of the county. We closed the enclosure. Around 05:00Z rain started. 09:00Z the sky conditions have improved, At the same time, the seeing on the 3.5m telescope is 1.5" and above, and it is very variable. Since the main purpose of tonight's test is to measure the seeing variations, it doesn't make sense to run the test, and hence to open. 11:02Z called it a night.
