Subject: 2.5m obslog 20211220 (SJD 59569) From: dgatlin@apo.nmsu.edu Date: Tue, 21 Dec 2021 12:03:59 +0000 (UTC) APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Monday December 20, 2021 (SJD 59569) ---- Observing Team ---- Dan Oravetz Dylan Gatlin Zoom: Audrey, Kaike, Viktor, Karen, Dmitry David Nidever (R) Jose Sanchez-Gallego (R) ---- Observing Plan ---- Positioner dither data and moon angle calibrations ---- Observing Summary ---- We got a dither set on one apogee/boss field, then started measuring the sky brightness relative to the moon. Halfway through the moon test, we started getting clouds which may have impacted the dataset. Notes: - The HAL apogee dome flat routine worked well - For the first half of the night, APOGEE was not creating archive images, quickred images, or raw images. The night log's apogee section may look a little weird because of it. - Accumulated dust counts: ~1k dust-hrs ---- Observing Log ---- AFTERNOON CHECKOUT: =================== No problems during checkout. Adjusted b1 residual by approximately 2 degrees (from -4.2 to -2.1 now). APOGEE evening cals and BOSS cals taken. Mirror numbers in spec. 22:45Z - Started ventilation. We could see a substantial halo around the moon, so we went back to stow, hoping to wait it out. 10:24Z We decided to try another dither field on design 35947 with RA=11h, Dec=40deg. The clouds are semi-transparent. We had trouble getting to the configuration because robot 184 kept colliding with nothing, at roughly the same position, twice in a row. This happened with snapshots 75 and 78 and it got stuck around alpha=200, beta=170, which we were able to produce on design 35947 11:47Z We sat on this field for a while and got nothing from it. Cherno wasn't able to find enough stars to keep stable guiding, and any data we tried to get would have been useless. 1:54:44 encl25m : closed; 11:57:03 apogee.expose=apRaw-40070038, 60, A, Dark 11:57:19 boss exposure 0.0, file=335600 11:58:42 boss exposure 900.0, file=335601 ---- Mirror Numbers ---- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: 0.0010 0.0040 Axial B: 0.0100 0.0030 Axial C: -0.1110 -0.1150 Trans D: -0.0342 -0.0338 Lateral E: 0.3320 0.3315 Lateral F: 0.5350 0.5350 GALILS Commanded: 12500 -1600 5300 47050 -8800 -8400 Actual: 12500 -1600 5300 47050 -8800 -8400 SETMIR VALUES PrimDesOrient: 0.0 -59.5 -9.15 -512.0 1906.3 PrimOrient: 1.07 -59.51 -9.21 -512.13 1906.31 SECONDARY: ---------- Focus: 0.0000 Air temp: 4.33 Altitude: 30.0 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: -9.6560 -9.6570 Axial B: -9.6680 -9.6710 Axial C: -9.6950 -9.6970 Trans D: 0.1030 0.1140 GALILS Commanded: 4892600 4891050 4910200 -50 -3450 Actual: 4859173 4859142 4859110 -50 -3450 SETMIR VALUES SecDesOrient: 3857.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 42.22 SecOrient: 3856.92 -0.0 -0.03 -0.02 42.87 ---- Telescope Status ---- 23:00Z Started ventilation 00:30Z encl25m : open 11:54Z encl25m : closed No interlocks bypassed Status at: 2:03:00Z Telescope stowed at: 121.0, 30.0, -0.0 mount Instrument mounted: ECam Counterweights at: 685.0, 686.6, 704.5, 703.9 LN2 autofill systems: Connected and turned on 180L LN2 dewar scale: SP1 170.0 lbs, 19.6 psi ---- Software Used ---- Afternoon disk space: (observers39) [observer@sdss5-hub: ~]$ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sdb1 2.0T 239G 1.8T 12% /home 10.25.1.230:/data 21T 17T 3.8T 82% /data Get Versions, 12/20/21, 23:32:00 -- STUI software: STUI : 1.7.13 alerts : 2.1.6 apo : 3.0.1 boss : 6.0.1-alpha.0 -boss.specMec : 3.0.4 guider : 4.0.0 ecamera : FAILED fliswarm : FAILED hartmann : 2.0.1-alpha.0 hub : 5.0.0a0 mcp : 2.1 -mcp.plc : 34 -mcp.azFiduci : v1_148 -mcp.altFiduc : v1_148 -mcp.rotFiduc : v1_148 sop : FAILED tcc : 1.4.0 apogee : not availble apogeecal : not availble apogeeql : v1_7_0dev STUIAdditions : nosop -- done -- ---- APOGEE Data Summary ---- Morning cals 59568: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ mjd i UT File/Exp Imtype Nread A/B Dth Ct-Plate Arch Offset %Flux Comm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 59568 40 13:02 40060040 Dark 60 A 13.0 -------- a-b-c - - 59568 41 13:13 40060041 Dark 60 A 13.0 -------- a-b-c - - 59568 42 13:24 40060042 Dark 60 A 13.0 -------- a-b-c - - 59568 43 13:26 40060043 QuarFlat 10 A 13.0 FPS- 0 a-b-c - 101 59568 44 13:28 40060044 QuarFlat 10 A 13.0 FPS- 0 a-b-c - 101 59568 45 13:29 40060045 QuarFlat 10 A 13.0 FPS- 0 a-b-c - 102 59568 46 13:32 40060046 Arc-Thar 12 A 13.0 FPS- 0 a-b-c -0.07 - 59568 47 13:39 40060047 Arc-Une 40 A 13.0 FPS- 0 a-b-c - - 59568 48 13:41 40060048 Arc-Thar 12 B 13.5 FPS- 0 a-b-c 0.52 - 59568 49 13:48 40060049 Arc-Une 40 B 13.5 FPS- 0 a-b-c - - 59568 50 13:54 40060050 Dark 30 A 13.0 -------- a-b-c - - 59568 51 13:59 40060051 InteFlat 30 A 13.0 -------- a-b-c - 279 59568 52 14:05 40060052 InteFlat 30 A 13.0 -------- a-b-c - 279 59568 53 14:10 40060053 InteFlat 30 A 13.0 -------- a-b-c - 280 59568 54 14:15 40060054 Dark 30 A 13.0 -------- a-b-c - - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---- eBOSS Data Summary ---- Afternoon focus check: 22:52:03 boss exposure 4.0, file=335559 22:52:44 boss exposure 4.0, file=335560 22:53:26 sp1.motor.move= 674, 674, 674 22:53:26 Hartmann collimate output on cart #19 sp1: offset: r= 0 (In Focus);
