Meaning, the amount of shifting depends on the direction and the elevation that the telescope is pointing. Our procedures have us pointing at an azimuth of 120 (to the east) and around 60 degrees altitude for most of our engineering tests. The other day, we tried moving the telescope to different az and alt values, and found that they ARE correlated. There is a larger shift > 30" when we point at a lower altitude (say 30 degrees), versus a smaller shift much Hi Kaike, > > Is the unexplained 30 arcsec move between the two different track commands > a move in RA or Dec or a mix of both? > > Thanks, > > John. > > ---------------------------- > John Wilson (he/him) > University of Virginia > Astronomy Department > jcw6z@virginia.edu > Office (434) 924-4907 > Mobile (434) 270-5847 > > ________________________________ > From: sloan-25mlog on behalf of Conor > Sayres > Sent: Monday, October 25, 2021 10:19 AM > To: Kaike > Cc: obs-report-25m@apo.nmsu.edu > Subject: [sloan-25mlog 5717] Re: 2.5m obslog 20211023 (SJD 59511) > > Hi Kaike, > > You could try that, it could be a good check.
