Subject: 2.5m obslog 20200627 (SJD 59028) From: dmbiz@apo.nmsu.edu Date: Sun, 28 Jun 2020 10:21:10 +0000 (UTC) APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday June 27, 2020 (SJD 59028) ---- Observing Team ---- Audrey Oravetz Dmitry Bizyaev ---- Observing Plan ---- Sat 27 JUN 2020 59028.0 0.49 02:57 10:37 14:20 22:01 ---- APOGEE-2 until 05:42 ( 2.8 h), then MaNGA ( 4.9 h) ---- Observing Summary ---- The entire night was lost to clouds and radars around. Notes: ====== 1. Spectro monthly biases, darks, and flats were completed. The 98% columns of our analysis of the biases and darks are outside normal range (see log). Visual inspection revealed the blowtorch artifact was present is many (if not all) images. There were pretty consistent readout voltages warnings (for example: camCheck:SP2R0Vsc1Read) within STUI during this time. 2. APOGEE lost 2.8h ; MaNGA lost 4.9h 3. Starting from June 25 (2 nights ago), the actual M2 MIG Trans D is reported as a perfect 0, which makes it out of spec, slightly and formally. The value was different 3 nights ago - in spec then. This may (or may not) indicate a problem with battery or something more specific for this particular actuator. As it follows from previous reports, there were no problems with pointing, so we leave the actuators untouched and ask for attention from day staff. We also have in mind Fred's training. 4. Dithering in the last morning and this evening's calibration sets for APOGEE is in spec. ---- Observing Log ---- Afternoon: ========== Software check: *Actors - ok *Disk space - ok /dev/vdd 688G 552G 137G 81% /home /dev/vdc1 11T 8.8T 2.0T 82% /data *Guider dark - ok *Mirror numbers - ok *Check APOGEE evening and morning cals - [observer@sdss4-hub ~]$ list_ap -m 59027 -morning -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- mjd i UT File/Exp Imtype Nread A/B Dth Ct-Plate Arch Offset %Flux Comm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 59027 1 10:46 34650033 Dark 60 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - - 59027 2 10:57 34650034 Dark 60 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - - 59027 3 11:07 34650035 Dark 60 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - - 59027 4 11:18 34650036 QuarFlat 10 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - 48 59027 5 11:20 34650037 QuarFlat 10 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - 48 59027 6 11:22 34650038 QuarFlat 10 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - 47 59027 7 11:24 34650039 Arc-Thar 12 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c 4.49 - 59027 8 11:26 34650040 Arc-Une 40 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - - 59027 9 11:33 34650041 Arc-Thar 12 B 13.5 1-12682 a-b-c 4.99 - 59027 10 11:35 34650042 Arc-Une 40 B 13.5 1-12682 a-b-c - - 59027 11 11:43 34650043 Dark 30 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - - 59027 12 11:48 34650044 InteFlat 30 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - 0 59027 13 11:53 34650045 InteFlat 30 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - 0 59027 14 11:59 34650046 InteFlat 30 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - 0 59027 15 12:04 34650047 Dark 30 A 13.0 1-12682 a-b-c - - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *MaNGA collimation check with cart 1: motorPosition sp1: 25871, 25079, 23460; sp2: 25227, 25007, 24808; ---------- Median spectrographs temperatures: Tsp1= 10.2, Tsp2= 13.2; Outside air temperature= 19.1; 00:26:28 boss exposure 4.0, file=314535, C 00:27:39 boss exposure 4.0, file=314536, C 00:29:05 sp1.motor.move= 180, 181, 179 00:29:05 Hartmann collimate output on cart #1 sp1: offset: r= -989 (In Focus); b= -4.2 (Out of focus) sp2: offset: r= -946 (In Focus); b= -3.0 (In Focus) sp1: pred. move: spAverageMove= 180 sp2: pred. move: spAverageMove= 0 sp1: pred. resid: r= -1169, b= -3.7, txt= OK, spTemp = 10.2 sp2: pred. resid: r= -945, b= -3.0, txt= OK, spTemp = 13.2 00:29:36 boss exposure 25.0, file=314537, C 00:32:23 boss exposure 4.0, file=314538, C According to last night's log, the blue cameras should be in spec for tonight without adjusting anything. *Telescope check - All ok.
